Where 2022 post the lifting of lockdowns was all about refiguring our personal equation – as to where we stand in the world and how we re establish ourselves, 2023 is focussed on finding peace in the midst of chaos.
As much as we would like to rush ahead to greet 2023, we have Mercury which is retrograde – lounging at the gates of 2023 – asking us to pause and look back at the lessons 2022 gave us. A perfect time to “re”: rethink, review, renegotiate, recharge, and rest. Mercury retrograde will hold us back four times in 2023 – and interestingly all its retrogrades are in the earth signs. Indicating 2023 will be a year to implement ideas and dreams. Procrastinating and debating will simply increase stagnation and frustration.
2022 Astrology Review
2022 has been a year of coming out on the other side of all of the turmoil and drama post Covid. Our work, home dynamic shifted drastically and the world was no longer what we knew it to be. Authority structures had shifted – giving way to a more collaborative environment – encouraging the power houses to expedite trust and flexibility. We also witnessed with Mars, Uranus and Saturn at hard angles resulting in the form of war (Ukraine). With Jupiter and Neptune being conjunct with each other in 2022, we were forced to look at our lives collectively from a spiritual and healing perspective. Re-evaluating relationships, understanding that disappointments are a part of life and learning to observe them was also a big theme in 2022
JUPITER IN PISCES
Jupiter dipped in and out of Pisces from May 13th, 2021 till December 20th, 2022. Jupiter in Pisces encouraged us to give more of ourselves and embrace compassion and imagination. A time to re fill ourselves with wisdom and healing. This was also the time when Covid booster shots were being encouraged globally. Despite Jupiter being constrained in 2020 and much of 2021 as it was transiting through Capricorn and Aquarius (two signs where Jupiter’s gifts get restricted). The God of sky (and a co ruler of Pisces), however, indicates that during the first quarter of 2022, Jupiter had maximum potential to deliver its wisdom, healing, and wealth. We investigated our identity, relationships, business, and money from a more soulful lens.
SATURN IN AQUARIUS
March 21st – July 1st, 2020
December 17th, 2020 – March 7th, 2023
Neptune, the planet connected with compassion, has been in conjunction with Jupiter, the planet associated with abundance. So everything closer home has been accentuated and will keep on doing so till 2026. Especially since Neptune is in it’s natural home- Pisces – intensifying that nothing is what it seems at first – you have to dig deeper, implement more – ideate less. We may encounter deception more than usual and be disillusioned. Neptune will move into Aries in 2026.
There’s no doubt that 2022 has been globally turbulent. But buried amid all this turbulence, lies a reminder to seize back the steering wheel of our lives. To claim how we connect to one another, work together, and how we live in reciprocity with the Earth. To keep practicing the fine art of self-adjustment. To evolve, grow, and brave the paths of resistance that are necessary to make this world more livable, more equitable, and more just.
JUPITER IN ARIES
- May 10th – October 27th, 2022
- December 20th, 2022 – May 16th, 2023
- Since late 2017, Saturn has resided in the signs that it rules: Capricorn (from 2017 to 2020) and Aquarius (from 2020 to 2023) But there’s a “lesser malefic” too which is Mars, the planet of confrontation and war.
With Pluto being in Capricorn for the last 15 years – lessons around our family ties, real estate and being realistic at times almost grieving with a stiff upper lip may have been experienced. Pluto taught us grace, gratitude and resilience. March 2023 Pluto start rolling into Aquarius – bringing upon fanatical righteousness and revolution, unaware of the collateral damage. Idealism has a price to pay. Ruled by both Saturn and Uranus, Aquarius with Pluto is going to pursue fairness for all. In 2023, Saturn will wade into Pisces for the first time in 30 years, making our rule books decidedly more fluid. Then Pluto will enter Aquarius after 15 years in Capricorn, bringing a whole new meaning to the power (and cost) of information, as well as the power of the collective. There will be a BIG shift in technology and cultures. The current cultural wars may likely become literal, reshaping political parties, borderlines, and identes. But that topic is for another day…

I now own a better view
Of the rising moon.” – Haiku poet, Basho
